On Friday, February 17, 2012, I will be going to Mexico.
I talked about my trip a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to give you a little update. Our departure is fast approaching, and we are excited, to say the least. Last Sunday, we held a big fundraiser at my parent’s church (the church that our team is associated with). It was a huge success. We had a bake sale, sold coffee, held a silent auction and provided a pancake breakfast for anyone who wanted to support us. If you were there in the middle of our chaos: thank you. We appreciate your support!
The best part of our fundraiser was to see how well we came together as a team. When we’re away, we always bond. I have made some lifelong friendships with these people. But this team? We’ve bonded and we haven’t even left yet. Very cool.
We still need your help.
We’ve reached our basic costs. Now we need to make it to our goal of $40 000. All the money we raise at this point goes directly to the orphanage. We use that money to buy construction supplies (interlock brick, cement, sand, etc) and anything else that they need. In past years, we’ve put in a new sewage system, bought new stoves, vehicle repairs and paint. It’s the money that makes a huge difference in the orphanage.
This is me asking for your help again. Consider making a donation via PayPal (I’ll write instructions below) to help us reach our goal.
Now for some pictures!
